Cousins, the creator of the groundbreaking The Story of Film: A New Generation and Women Make Film, trains his distinctive film-historian lens on the evolution of documentary. The result is a rich tapestry of landmark works and underappreciated gems. In this illuminating chapter, he guides us through the 1990s, a decade of filmmakers exploring bodies, spirituality, labour, war and politics, against the backdrop of rising commercial interest in the form.
