**Autumn Colors Hike in Vienna Woods** WIENERWALD · COBENZL 25 OCT 2026 · SUN · 10:30-16:00 10KM · +230/-230M · easy&chill ──────────── Join us on October 25 for a beginner-friendly social hike through the **autumn-colored Vienna Woods** (Wienerwald), culminating at Hermannskogel (544 m) — the **highest point in Vienna**. Meet fellow Adventure Hikers, enjoy the changing colors of the season, and discover what our mountain adventures are all about. We meet at Wien Heiligenstadt and take a 20-minute bus ride (38A) to **Cobenzl**, where panoramic views stretch across Vienna and the Weinviertel region of Lower Austria. From there, we follow relaxed forest trails towards **Hermannskogel**. At the summit, the historic **Habsburg Tower** (Habsburg-Warte; €1 entry fee) offers sweeping views over the autumn-colored Wienerwald and the northeastern edge of the Alps. After taking time to enjoy the scenery, chat with fellow hikers, and capture some autumn photography, we head to a traditional Viennese inn on the outskirts of the city for a **group lunch**. Afterwards, we make our way back towards Cobenzl, passing the Tree Circle of Life and **Sisi Chapel** before catching the bus back to Wien Heiligenstadt. **Fancy a little extra adventure?** At the end of the hike, there will be an optional 1 km detour featuring one of the Wienerwald's few T3-difficulty trail sections. It's a chance to experience the kind of uneven, more technical terrain we encounter on our Alpine adventures. No climbing skills are required, but shoes with good grip are strongly recommended. The section is entirely optional, so you can choose the level of adventure that suits you. **HIGHLIGHTS** • Panoramic views over Vienna • Autumn landscape of Wienerwald • Hermannskogel, the highest point in Vienna • Tree Circle of Life & Sisi Chapel • Taster T3 trail section (optional) ──────────── **FITNESS: EASY** Up to 10KM and +400M. Relaxed pace, no hiking experience needed. Good shoes and a weather-ready bag are enough. **ROUTE** Komoot: [LINK](https://www.komoot.com/tour/3353074181?ref=itd&share_token=aOj2S2xQtu95XFk99lGacvct91xI77ASyqPH5QOgg3aeP4Ly4F&ref=its&t_s=referral&t_cid=route_share&t_ref_username=4018947863338) **PACK LIST** 🥾 Shoes or boots with good grip 🧥 Layered clothing 🌧️ Rain protection (jacket and pants) ☀️ Sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses, cap) 💧 Water (1 L) 🥪 Snacks 📱 Phone, fully charged 💳 Cash 🆔 ID ──────────── **GENERAL INFORMATION** **GROUP DYNAMICS** This is a **group hiking activity**. We begin the hike as a group, move together along the route, regroup regularly along the way, and finish the hike together. Please plan to stay with the group for the entire duration of the hike, unless the itinerary explicitly mentions the possibility of splitting into smaller groups (e.g., one subgroup staying at a hut while others continue to a summit). We follow this approach primarily for **safety reasons**: to keep track of everyone, ensure nobody is accidentally left behind, and allow the group to support each other if unexpected situations arise. It also helps create a better shared experience, where everyone can enjoy the hike together and nobody feels isolated or unintentionally separated from the group. ──────────── **WEATHER** This hike is weather-dependent and may be modified, shortened, postponed, or cancelled in case of thunderstorms, severe weather, or unsafe mountain conditions. Please check for updates before departure and be prepared for possible changes to the itinerary. The weather forecast and any potential changes will usually be posted in the event comments around 48 hours before the hike. The organizer provides general information only and does not determine whether conditions are safe for individual participants. Each participant is solely responsible for assessing the weather, trail conditions, their own abilities, and deciding whether to participate or continue the hike. ──────────── **PARTICIPATION & RESPONSIBILITY** This is a casual, self-organized hike. You join at your own responsibility and are responsible for your own safety, decisions, and actions throughout the activity. Please ensure you are comfortable with the planned distance, elevation gain, difficulty level, and alpine terrain. You are responsible for assessing whether the hike is suitable for your fitness level and experience, and for bringing appropriate clothing, sufficient food and water, and suitable footwear and equipment. Please make conservative decisions regarding your own safety, and do not take unnecessary risks.
