Wawel Odzyskany is a permanent exhibition in the medieval Gothic houses on the north side of Wawel Hill, telling the story of the castle from the loss of Polish independence in 1795 to the present day. It covers the period when the hill was turned into an Austrian citadel and barracks, and the decades-long effort to reclaim and restore the royal residence, shown through artworks, architectural details, weapons, period artifacts, large-format photo reproductions and interactive multimedia.
