HEAVY LISTENING - Second Edition Doors 20:00 sucre sucre (DJ) Afrodeo (Live) Nava Hemyari (Live) Sucre sucre’s musical foundation lies between classical music and reggae, a crossroad shaping her approach as a DJ based between Berlin and Vienna. Early influences include formative experiences in church choirs, traditional East African music and her sister’s garage records, sparking a fascination with the ambiguous and genre-fluid. Drawn to focused listening and sonic exploration, her ever-expanding collection favors unconventional tracks with unusual lyrics, offbeat energy and strong basslines. Guided by intuition and driven by curiosity and storytelling, sucre sucre continues to refine her musical identity—unafraid to cross boundaries and explore unfamiliar sonic landscapes. Evrim Kuzu is a Vienna-based artist who makes and performs music as Afrodeo. His sampledelic practice blends diverse sonic materials into narrative-driven compositions. Treating every performance as a one-off, Kuzu creates sets that invite audiences to sink into circling layers of sound and memory. A montage of tape loops, voice and sampled media. Diary pages, enfolded in hiss and crackle. Nava Hemyari composes precise, textural music that moves between intensity and restraint, unfolding with a strong sense of form and detail. Her works have been performed at venues including the Musikverein, Wiener Konzerthaus, ORF RadioKulturhaus, Hofburgkapelle, and Minoritenkirche Krems, by ensembles such as PHACE, Company of Music, Black Page Orchestra, and Ensemble Platypus. She has participated in festivals including Manifeste (IRCAM) and Mixtur Barcelona. Her works have been presented at musikprotokoll and on several occasions as part of Wien Modern, Bludenzer Tage zeitgemäßer Musik, Listening Closely, SHIFT Festival at the Royal Opera House London, and Teatri del Suono in Trieste. As a vocalist in her own ensembles—the punctum collective for contemporary music and the Lux Brumalis Ensemble for Renaissance and early Baroque repertoire—she has composed numerous works for voice and choir.
