Marla Brown, daughter of anglophile reggae legend Dennis Brown, will lead a discussion with a variety of singers, musicians, and archive custodians, who will share insight on the musical identities and creative practices of their fathers, and the shadow of influence cast over their own musical careers. We will welcome sons and daughters of Jazz, Calypso, reggae, and Funk musicians to unpick threads of inherited musical talent and the legacy left on Black British music. Unfortunately this event has been postponed to January 2027. This event is part of the wider celebration of The Music Is Black: A British Story Exhibition.
