Tolstoi-Bibliothek is Western Europe's largest non-state Russian-language library, founded in 1949 by Russian émigrés and now housed in Neuhausen with around 47,000 books. Alongside its collection of fiction and a unique archive of emigration literature with signed first editions, it hosts cultural events, a Russian-language social counselling service, and meeting opportunities for everyone interested in Russian-speaking culture.
