The library of the HFF München is one of the leading specialist libraries for film and television in Germany and Europe, aiming to offer as complete a literature collection on film and TV as possible in major Western languages. Its holdings include roughly 90,000 books, around 100 subscribed journals plus older volumes, about 35,000 DVDs and 1,100 Blu-rays, press dossiers on filmmakers and topics, a collection of international screenplays, rare 'grey literature' like festival catalogues, and a historic film archive acquired in 1996 covering 1920–1960.
