◉ We’re welcoming a very special guest to our November 13th party at Gólya: one of the most well-known and distinctive figures of the Hungarian electronic music scene, Galactic Jackson, will be taking over the decks for a hardcore/jungle set! Galactic Jackson is a vinyl-only DJ, producer, label owner, obsessive record collector and analogue synth enthusiast all at once, with a musical universe that’s impossible to pin down to a single genre. As a DJ, he’s best known for exploring italo, acid, electro and synth, but for more than two decades he’s been digging for and collecting electronic music far beyond genre boundaries. One of the best-known manifestations of this obsession is Ballacid, his YouTube channel which has been running since 2008, where he shares gems he’s unearthed from all over the world and considers worthy of attention. He also runs his own Ballacid Records label and is active across several musical projects. For RIGHT TIME, we’re bringing out a lesser-known side of his musical universe. We’ve asked him to dig into a less frequently explored corner of his vast record collection and put together a vinyl set focused specifically on hardcore and jungle. So rather than inviting a jungle DJ, we’ve asked one of our favourite record collectors to show us which records from this scene hold a special place in his collection. We’re incredibly curious to hear what connections he finds within these styles and which records he’ll pull out of his seemingly endless collection. We often talk within the crew about how we could bring more distinctive, meaningful and memorable guest sets from the Hungarian scene into the RIGHT TIME mix, and we feel Galactic Jackson is a perfect fit for that vision. We’re excited to get a glimpse into a lesser-known corner of an avid collector’s musical universe and hear what hardcore and jungle sound like through his selection. Throughout the night, RIGHT TIME residents Mentalien, Benc and Aikatherina will also take over the decks, once again digging deep into the past and present of hardcore, jungle and drum & bass with their usual enthusiasm and notoriously strict quality control.
