ART*VR: Festival of Virtual Reality and Immersive Art

The ART∗VR Festival returns to DOX for its fourth edition. From 10 to 15 November, it will present contemporary international art in virtual and extended reality – from immersive films and interactive projects to physical and haptic installations, live VR performance, and projects incorporating artificial intelligence. The programme at DOX consists of three main sections: International Competition : fourteen of the newest and most compelling projects in contemporary immersive art. The fourth edition is exceptionally diverse in both form and subject matter – it includes sensoric installations and interactive games, thematically ranging from the climate crisis and reflections on digitization to personal stories of trauma, family memory, and the search for one’s place in the world. Circles of Intimacy : a thematic exhibition of nine projects exploring intimacy in its erotic and platonic, familial and communal, bodily and spatial forms. The exhibition will remain at DOX until 13 December 2026. Asterisk* : a section of projects drawing attention to subjects that should not be overlooked. This year’s selection addresses human and animal rights, loss, our relationship with death and the non-human world. The festival also includes the international Zip-Scene Conference , taking place from 12 to 14 November 2026 and focusing on current questions of interactive and immersive storytelling, artificial intelligence, and authenticity.
