About
Loods 6 is a historic warehouse located on Amsterdam’s KNSM Island, in the city's Eastern Docklands. Originally built in 1922, it served as a passenger terminal and storage facility for the Royal Dutch Steamship Company (KNSM). Following the decline of Amsterdam's port activities, the building was transformed into a vibrant cultural and creative centre. Today, Loods 6 houses artists' studios, galleries, shops and exhibition spaces. Its impressive industrial architecture reflects Amsterdam's maritime heritage and makes it an interesting destination for architecture enthusiasts. There are 2 exhibitions on: What remains of everyday life when the things we take for granted are suddenly disrupted? And what happens when the small, repetitive actions that give structure to our days can no longer be taken for granted? In Where the Light Comes In – Days of Izyum, multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker Kiki Ho explores the almost invisible structures that hold our daily lives together. This autumn, Loods 6 presents As if we are nothing, a new site-specific solo exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Narges Mohammadi. For the monumental Bagagehal, Mohammadi has developed an entirely new series of works combining film, light and asphalt in an immersive installation exploring visibility, disappearance and the question of who is given space to exist. This is Mohammadi's first solo exhibition in Amsterdam and her largest solo exhibition to date. For more info goto: www.loods6.nl This event is for free.
