About

Knots Presents their first exhibition at ANNEX hosted by The Koppel Project in Elephant and Castle bringing together a network of artists, organisers, and learners for Oscillations. With the rising influence of the far-right in the UK and beyond, Knots recognises the importance of engaging with performance not simply as a manner to present work, but to build relationships, exchange knowledge, and work in solidarity with our communities resisting authoritarianism and injustice. The tide of oppression attempts to suffocate us: the working class, immigrants, queer and trans people. Yet it also pins the faults of capitalism onto us. We believe any and all privilege in our society must be used to further the waves of resistance against this fearmongering funded by the wealthy to separate us even further. Our noise nights invite artists to encounter one another through an exchange of ideas and collaboration which builds relationships that continue after the performance ends. Oscillations stems from this ethos and invites artists to respond through visual mediums that speak to collaboration and resistance in shared history, local communities, familial lives, and the every day. A launch evening on November 6th of the exhibition, followed by cross-disciplinary noise collaborations with previous Knots alumni, and short panel Q&A with exhibiting artists. November 7th will be our full day of Knots’ Alternative Processes programme consisting of an archival workshop, and our very own Noise Labs on recontextualizing our world through manipulation and distortion, as well as two panels. And to close off the day, we’ve got a special evening of an improvised-scoring of submitted 2-minute short films. Our closing afternoon will be our potluck lunch on November 8th inviting all of you to bring a dish that carries memory for you. Perhaps it’s the cheap noodles that kept you afloat, or a recipe you learnt from your best friend. Bring it, share it, and celebrate with us! There will be two final performances to send us off.
