Against what political backdrop were these objects created? How and why did they find their way into the museum’s collection? What can they tell us about historical spaces, events and processes? Medieval armour, a 17th-century engraved ostrich egg, or fragments of mining machinery and tools – like all the other exhibits, they tell stories and bear witness to history.
