As part of the Currents spatial sound event during ADE 2026, we offer a free one-day masterclass programme for newcomers and practitioners in spatial sound on Saturday 24/10 at Loods6. We welcome DJs, producers, sound designers, spatial sound artists and everyone with an interest in the relations between sound, live performance, technology and space. The days consist of a deep dive into working with the brand new Ambrio Spatial Sound DJ-mixer, a panel conversation with artists active in spatial sound and a masterclass about Liquid Perspectives on Sound by artist Andreas Tegnander. Masterclass: Introducing the Ambrio Spatial DJ Mixer | Session 1 By Ambrio | 13:00 - 13:40 | free session Especially for ADE, the team of Brussels-based Ambrio Spatial Mixer will be with us at Loods6, to give two masterclasses: a morning session and afternoon session. Participants will learn about the Ambrio Spatial Mixer, the world’s first DJ mixer designed for intuitive spatial control, and furthermore explain how it also integrates seamlessly into live performance setups. Focusing on practical workflows, movement and creative use cases, this masterclass gives an introduction into the functionalities, the vision behind the mixer in relation to DJ practices, and explores playing with depth, motion and spatial effects as compositional elements. After the masterclass, two mixers can be accessed to try some things for participants. Artist Talk: How can spatial sound influence DJ and live practices? Farzané, Nicolas Geysens (Ambrio), Robin Koek, more TBA | 14:10 - 14:50 | free session Listen to artists and technicians working with spatial sound and discover how spatial sound forms part of their practice, or how they believe it might influence new approaches to the art of DJing and live performances. As well as the artistic and technical aspects of working with spatial and immersive sound media, we will also discuss other ways of listening and being together that are worth reflecting on and which we urgently need to consider. Masterclass: Liquid Perspectives on Sound - Andreas Tegnander 15:10 - 15:50 | free session This performative masterclass explores sound as a foundational mode of perception, one that precedes language, thought, and fixed perspective. Before we learned to describe the world, we felt it through vibration: as pressure, rhythm, and movement passing through the body. By revisiting sound as a fluid and relational phenomenon, the lecture invites a shift from understanding sound as an object we hear, to a condition we exist within. Moving through the body, the senses, and the spaces we inhabit, the talk connects phenomenology with lived experience and artistic practice. It reflects on how sound shapes our perception of space, and how these principles extend into contemporary environments such as clubs and performance settings. Ultimately, the lecture asks how we might design experiences for how they are felt long before thought. The masterclass is open to all levels of experience. No prior knowledge of sound production is needed, although some familiarity with sound can add depth to the experience. After the masterclass, two mixers can be accessed to try some things for participants. We end the day with getting to know each other better, and enjoying a drink together.
