Checkpoint Charlie

Checkpoint Charlie was the most famous Cold War crossing point between East and West Berlin, where American and Soviet tanks once faced off in 1961. Today the replica guard post and sandbagged barrack on Friedrichstraße recall this history, with the nearby Wall Museum offering deeper insight into escape attempts across the border.
