Events in English: Literature & Attitude. Das Archiv von Rachel Salamander

Worum es geht

In 1982, Rachel Salamander founded the "Literaturhandlung“, the first bookstore dedicated to literature on Judaism in Germany after 1945. Through more than 1,000 readings and discussions, she brought authors and audiences together and gained an international reputation. Guests included Louis Begley, Lily Brett, David Grossman, Batya Gur, Ruth Klüger, Amos Oz, Robert Schindel, Zeruya Shalev, and many others. The exhibition documents Rachel Salamander’s work and offers rare insights into her archive, which she donated to the Monacensia in 2022.
