After moving from the UK to Los Angeles, R.I.P. Germain became more acutely aware of the immediate dangers associated with how clothing is interpreted, and how these risks can arise anywhere. Germain's own experience of being perceived as a threat led him to investigate the local languages of dress and the risks of being misread. Through film, Germain brings together luxury streetwear and African American gang culture in Los Angeles, revealing the complex connections between them.
