About

How do we meet one another, and what can happen between two people in the moment of an unexpected encounter? For Swiss performance artist Marinka Limat, walking is not merely a means of getting from one place to another, but an opportunity to meet others and gain new experiences. Her film The Art of Meeting documents her 2017 art pilgrimage from Kassel to Athens, during which the artist tried to meet as many people unknown to her as possible. In the first part of the program, participants can experience different situations of encounter through performative exercises in a hands-on workshop: from paying attention to their own presence, through connecting with another person, to experiencing group dynamics. The workshop is followed by an artist talk, in which Marinka Limat talks with the curators of the Walk This Way. The Art of Walking exhibition about her art pilgrimages, the art of walking and meeting, as well as her own artistic practice. The program is connected to the exhibition Walk This Way. The Art of Walking. Location: Ludwig Museum, 1st-floor workshop space and exhibition area, Walk This Way. The Art of Walking exhibition Participation is free of charge, but registration is required. The program language is English. Registration Maximum number of participants: 20 Supported by: Pro Helvetia - Swiss Arts Council
